Improving Your Curb Appeal

Adding curb appeal to your home in Bryan College Station isn't just planting a few flowers or shrubs. Curb appeal also means sprucing up the actual front of the home. Simple things like adding more bold house numbers, lighting, and adding to a front porch or entry way do just as much as landscaping. Of course, the landscaping must be done as well.

When you are working on the front of your home, take a look at your window frames. If they blend in with the color of your home, paint them in a bold accent color to add some dimension. Also paint your front entry door. A color that contrasts from the base color and window frame colors is ideal. The color should still match the others chosen.

While working on your landscaping, pick out a few items that really stand out. Brightly colored butterfly bushes are great accents. Using two per side is sufficient since they do fill out and get wide. Ornamental grasses work very well in the Texas climate. They do need some maintenance, such as watering and trimming, but do make an impact when properly placed in the yard. Use shrubbery, flowers that match the color of your home, and easy to maintain bushes such as evergreen or small hedges. As far as ground cover is concerned, pea gravel is easier to maintain. It is also something that can be reused year after year. Instead of mulch, use pea gravel that is a brown or reddish color so that it resembles the color and look of gravel.
